Mass Shooter Targeting Businesses in West Texas leaves 5 dead, 21 injured

Another Saturday, another mass shooting in or around a bustling shopping center, this time in Odessa and Midland, West Texas.

In a wild shoot-out yesterday a gunman opened fire in and around West Texas shopping areas, got into a vehicle, shot at more people on East Loop 338 and I-20 roadways. He then stole a U.S. Postal Service vehicle and continued his shooting spree.

Five people were left dead as a result, and 21 injured during the attack. Seven of the wounded are in critical condition. A baby was one of the wounded. A school-aged child was killed.

The massacre stopped at a movie theatre where the police shot and killed the gunman.

On Saturday August 3, 2019, a gunman murdered 22 people and injured more than two dozen more at a busy Walmart store in El Paso, Texas.

I wrote this in April 2018 for an article on active shooter episodes for Property Casualty 360. How I wish I would have been proven wrong.

It can be read in its entirety here: https://www.propertycasualty360.com/2018/04/16/how-businesses-can-prepare-for-active-shooters/
