OSHA reports that not some, not a few but "many" episodes of workplace violence, including harassment by bullying, go unreported each year. Underlying causes may be a lack of trust in anti-bullying systems and protocols in the past. In other words, a worker experiencing bullying may note that while policies and procedures look good on paper, it is another story altogether in terms of properly enforcing anti-bullying protocols. An open letter from the man who tried to stop Columbine to prevent further Columbines from happening
Randy Brown is a friend and workplace/school violence prevention advocate. He is also the father of the family that reported the Columbine killers to law enforcement for the "leakage of violent intent" the two future mass murderers exhibited before their deadly April 20, 1999 attack on Columbine High School. The article below from March 25, 1998 represents one of numerous complaints made by the Brown family in 1997 and 1998 that unfortunately fell on deaf ears. Watch the Brow

The impact of mass shootings on a dear friend and her efforts to effect change
On May 18, 2018, my beloved friend who I consider family, Rosie Stone, lost her only son Christopher Jake Stone during a catastrophic mass school shooting that took Chris's life, the lives of nine other innocent people, and left 13 others wounded. Chris was a 17-year-old junior that day at Texas's Santa Fe High School. When shotgun blasts erupted, Chris ran. Then Chris hid. Finally he fought by valiantly using his teenaged body to save the lives of others. In September 2021,

The Marjory Stoneman Douglas mass killer researched Columbine prior to his attack in Parkland, Florida The Virginia Tech mass shooter regarded the Columbine killers as his "brothers" and put them on the same level as God.

The WVPI's "3-3 Pledge" to prevent further school and other mass shootings
The WVPI's motto is "prevention is the only solution." Today's blistering Report published by the Texas House of Representatives regarding the catastrophic May 24, 2022 mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde convinced us more than ever that once the shooter enters the school or church, movie theatre, grocery store, concert venue, parade route or other place Americans gather to perpetrate mass violence - planned in many occasions over months even years - we have los

Sexual Harassment v. Sexual Favoritism
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has found that workplace-based harassment is a form of workplace violence. Sexual harassment is prohibited by federal law, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and many state laws as well. While the WVPI discourages both as improper management practices, there is a difference between harassment and favoritism. Generally speaking, one is illegal and the other may not be. Do you know the difference between the two? Please
