2.0 Florida CLE credits offered at 5/10/18 WVPI Symposium

Florida attorneys who attend the May 10, 2018 WVPI Symposium will be able to earn 2.0 continuing legal education (CLE) credits in General/Labor and Employment education. Kathleen M. Bonczyk's presentation on "Workplace Violence" prevention has been accredited by the Florida Bar as "intermediate" level education.

Kathleen M. Bonczyk, Esq.

Ms. Bonczyk explains "Among other topics, my presentation will address OSHA's general duty clause and Fla. Stat. § 790.251(4)(c) which is the provision of Florida's "guns in trunks law."

This statutory provision mandates "Employers may not terminate the employment of or otherwise discriminate against an employee, or expel a customer or invitee for “exercising his or her constitutional right to keep and bear arms or for exercising the right of self-defense as long as a firearm is never exhibited on company property for any reason other than lawful defensive purposes.” See Fla. Stat. § 790.251(4)(e).

"Many other states across America like Florida have enacted their own 'guns in trunks' statutes such as Texas, Arizona, Tennessee and Indiana," she explains.

The event will also feature two members of the WVPI think tank - Stuart Silverman, Esq. and Felix P. Nater, CSC.

Seating is limited to the event and pre-registration information will be announced on this blog in the near future.
