The ultimate "See Something, Say Something" failure

November 22, 2020

Last July, I had the honor of interviewing Randy Brown of Littleton, Colorado.

I have quoted Mr. Brown and his wife, Judy, for years as examples of those who "said something" after "seeing something" only to have their report ignored. In this case, deadly consequences changing the course of history resulted.

Mr. Brown reported the notorious Columbine killers to authorities one and two years before the 4/20/99 massacre which left 12 students and one teacher dead.

Sadly, "Columbine" has inspired multiple other school and workplace rampage killers down through the years.

It has now been brought to my attention that Mr. Brown's report was even published in a local newspaper (see below). Still, nothing was done.

Morale of the story:  If you tell them to SAY SOMETHING when they SEE SOMETHING you'd better DO SOMETHING.

Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Brown for your courageous efforts and for what you continue to do to prevent school and other forms of workplace violence.
