Mall active shooter episode leaves 1 dead, 3 wounded

Even during a global pandemic, workplace violence continues to rear its ugly head. Multiple gunshots broke out near a food court at Alabama's Riverchase Galleria mall Friday afternoon on July 3rd.

Tragically, 8-year-old Royta Giles Jr. was stuck by one of the bullets and died. Three other people were wounded during the active shooting episode.

Annalisa Pope, who works at the Hollister store in the mall, told WBMA-TV she heard six to seven shots that "sounded like they were coming from every direction."

A police investigation into the incident is continuing.
