The first step to receiving this $600 benefit from the federal government is to apply for unemployment compensation through your state's program.

Additionally, the federal stimulus recovery package entitles Americans who have historically been disqualified from receiving unemployment compensation, such as the self-employed and part-time employees, to receive this $600 payment over and above what the state's benefit is.
