Mass shooting at Missouri business leaves 2 dead; at least 15 wounded

A Kansas City establishment which advertised "Sold Out Sundays" events celebrating the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs road to the Super Bowl was the scene of a mass shooting on January 19, 2020.

Authorities confirm two people died and 15 others were wounded at the 9ine Ultra Lounge, previously owned by former Chiefs player Alphonso Hodge.

All of the wounded were transported to area hospitals. Three of them have been reported to be in critical condition.

KCPD-TV reports that the perpetrator opened fire at a line of patrons on Sunday evening, and thereafter an armed security guard shot at the shooter, killing him.

Another media outlet KMBC-TV reports "several weapons" were recovered at the scene.

The massacre occurred as residents of the city celebrated the Chiefs win over the Tennessee Titans yesterday, which secured them the NFC championship victory and an opportunity to play in the Super Bowl on February 2, 2020.
