Nurse on life support after being shot in workplace violence attack
My first published research over three decades ago focused on the harassment of our nation's nurses. Nursing is a profession particularly susceptible to workplace violence, including by patients.
The cycle of violence against our nation's nurses reared its ugly head once again yesterday when a nurse was shot at her place of employment, Orangeburg Regional Medical Center in South Carolina.

Authorities have not released the nurse's identity but have confirmed her injuries are serious enough that she has been placed on life support.
According to law enforcement, a patient who had left the hospital of his own accord has been arrested in connection with this deadly attack.
