WVPI teleconference: Bomb Threat and Safety Awareness

This weekend the WVPI will host a 45 minute inservice via teleconference to address bomb threat and safety awareness. This event is announced on the day that Arlington National Cemetary was closed due to a bomb scare.

Kathleen M. Bonczyk, WVPI Founder and Executive Director, has long advocated for bomb safety and awareness in our schools and workplaces.

American schools, workplaces for teachers. faculty and staff, have been targets for bombings dating back to at least the Columbine High School massacre on April 20, 1999.

The two perpetrators responsible for Columbine originally intended and planned that event to be a mass bombing, and only moved into active shooter role when two large bombs they planed in the school's cafeteria failed to detonate.

Bombs have the potential to cause more damage that guns and are easier to acquire in many cases than firearms are.

Over the years, many bombings have been thwarted due because bombs were recognized as a threat, concerned parties knew what to look for and then acted.

The WVPI's Bomb Threat and Safety Awareness event will be held Saturday August 25, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. EST via teleconference.
