Heith Yeager, Sergeant with the Osceola County, Florida Sheriff’s Office and Vice President of Training Operations of SIG/Florida has joined the WVPI Think Tank.
After serving four years and multiple deployments in the United States Marine Corps, Heith was honorably discharged and wished to pursue a career in law enforcement. After graduating the academy in 1999, Heith started at Oviedo Police Department before moving to St. Cloud Police Department where he stayed for five years. During his time at St. Cloud, he helped establish crisis intervention training for the agency, a full time bicycle patrol program, and coordinated the Police Explorer program along with working road patrol.
In early 2006, Heith started at the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office. During his time at the sheriff’s office, he has worked in crime prevention, earning the state designation as both a Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design Practitioner and Crime Prevention Practitioner. Heith conducts security surveys for a variety of establishments, from golf courses to schools. Heith has also worked patrol, property crimes as a detective, and spent two years with the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF).
Currently, Heith supervises fifteen School Resource Officers along with five Community Services Deputies. Heith conducts training on many different aspects of law enforcement such as campus emergency preparedness and crime prevention through environmental design for businesses. Heith also conducts consulting for other law enforcement agencies in the Central Florida area.
Heith is a graduate of Columbia College with a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration. Heith is currently pursuing his PHD in Criminal Justice from Walden University along with finishing another Master’s degree in Public Administration from Troy University.
Heith is also currently a college professor and teaches at the Technical Education Center of Osceola (TECO), the local police academy. He teaches in all the high liability areas of the academy along with advance classes such as Instructor Techniques, Field Training Officer, and Line Supervision.
In addition, Heith serves as Vice President of Training Operations with the Security Impact Group in Florida.
